I talk to Chris Costello and she discusses her father Lou Costello’s life

Chris was great. I loved her book. I loved Chris. She was the baby of the Costello family. She talks about the death by drowning of Lou Costello JR. Who was only 1 year old. Lou had asked Anne to keep the baby up so he could hear his dad on the radio. When he was told he raced home because he could not believe it. Lou went back to the studio to record the show so Lou Jr could hear him in heaven.Lou was never the same after that. She talks how her mother in law and others blamed Sue's mom Anne for the death, She retreated into alcohol as she and Lou could never talk about the death of her child. Anne felt guilty as well but it was not her fault.

She talks about the partnership of Abbott and Costello. Why they really broke up, and did Lou REALLY pay for Dean Martin's nose job.

Chris was the person her father waved help  to before his collapse. Sue also found her mother dead on the kitchen floor. She died of an apparent heart attack, nine months after Lou's death also of a heart attack. Chris was only 8 years old.

Chris is now doing her own podcast and we were going to cross promote but Sue is crazy busy.

I wanted to ask about Lou wanting to change the teams name to Costello and Abbott and the studio wisely refused. Lou was a very complex man. Generous to a fault. He added so much laughter to the world.

Thanks so much to Chris

Part 2 I talk to Author Stone Wallace about film noir, gangsters in the fifties and was Ma Barker just a sweet little old country lady..

Part 2

It was a lot of fun talking about the end of the forties and fifties gangster flicks. He tells us how it changed in the fifties. He also told me that it could be a falsehood that Ma Barker was the mastermind of her brood. Could it be possible she was just a simple country woman that gave birth to four sons that just happened to be psychopaths?? I'd be devastated if the Shelley Winters Ma Barker movie was not fact..

WE talk about Richard Conte, Sterling Hayden, Tough broads and lots more. WE digress every now and then but its always about classic films and actors. Also two gangsters that are most definitely in love.

Thanks to Stony for coming on

Mostly thanks to my listeners!

I hope 2020 is a happy healthy one for you all.

My blonde shell expert April and I talk about a brunette. But what a brunette..The never dull and ever so gorgeous Ava Gardner

April Vevea, my partner in the blonde shell series and I talk for the first time about a brunette, the sexy, gorgeous and always fascinating Ava Gardener. We talk her three marriages, some romances, her big time love of parties, dancing and alcohol. Her disdain of Hollywood which led her to live in Spain for many years. She loved the bullfighters and the flamenco. We talk some of her films. My favorite Ava performance was in The Night Of The Iguana. Ava always loved Frank, and they would reunite for a night here and there, and the fighting would start all over again. We discuss Ava's basically being run out of Spain. The older you get the harder the booze hits. She was ready to go though. Her next stop was England where she lived out the rest of her days. Ava was a fun and down to earth woman, she could be brutally honest, about herself, especially. I know I love Ava. So does our blonde shell expert April.

As a PS I'll be delving  much deeper into Ava and Franks love/hate relationship when I do Classic Hollywood iconic love stories. Included will be Gable and Lombard, Bogie and Bacall, The Olivier's and The Burtons.

Thanks so much to my friend April. I so love working with her.

Mostly thanks to my listeners. You all are the best!

Part 2 I talk to Tom Johnson and David Fantle on their fabulous book Hollywood Heyday: 75 Candid Interviews With Golden Age Legends..Fred Astaire started it all

Tom and David join me once again. WE did an interview about a year ago and we talked about some of their interviews, but there were so many legends and so little time. WE discuss the wonderful chutzpah of youth. Both were fresh out of High school in Minnesota, had written fan letters to Fred Astaire. Fred Invited them to interview him. Armed with their trusty pen and paper and two groovy 70's polyester suits It was Hollywood he we come. WE talk Lucy, Ted Knight, grumpy Uncle Fester, Jaqueline Bisett and her famous tee shirt scene, my boyfriend Ed ASner, Gene Kelly, Robert Wagner..Please call me R.J...and so many more. Find out who there fave interviews were with. The book is a great read with wonderful insight. It all started with Fred..If Fred Talked to you, you must be OK. Lots of great stories.

Thanks so much to Tom and Dave. Some of the audio is a little weird as we were all in different places. My editor tried to get the sound more balanced.

Please check out their book. I highly recommend. They make some really funny observations.

April VeVea and I talk the life and death of Sharon Tate…

We discuss Sharon Tates life and loves, and her film career as short as it was. We discuss her relationship with Jay Sebring and her tumultuous marriage with Roman Polanski. Sharon was so incredibly beautiful, Elizabeth Taylor and Kim Novak refused to work with her. Of course we discuss Sharon's death by the Manson Family. Sharon was 8 months pregnant when she died. The murder of Sharon and the others was a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. So heartbreaking. Hopefully you get to know Sharon a little bit more than you did before.

Thanks so much to my classic movie blonde expert April VeVea
