Part 1..My Pal Steve Smith Joins Me To Discuss All The Star Is Born movies. Which is best? We also dish some precode..

My pal and very knowledgable classic movie fan Steve Smith joined me to talk A Star Is Born in every incarnation going all the way back to what is sometimes called the first Star is Born. What Price Hollywood. The main characters are best friends. He's a washed up director and he makes her a star. She's known as Americas Pal. Of course theres tragedy as there is for all the Star IS Borns. We talk Bradley Cooper (Hubba Hubba) and Lady Gaga version as well.

Then we talk some precode giving props to Danny at www.precode.com. He has a list of all precodes and some amazing reviews. 

We had so much fun yakking we went over 90 minutes. We decided to make it two parts. So today is part 1. We hope you enjoy.

touched base with my dreamboat David Selby. He was filled with great info. We talked about his one scene in Castle Rock  We talked Falcon Crest and the great classic movie stars  that guested on it. It included Lana Turner, Kim Novak, Gina Lollabrigida, Mel Ferrer, Cesar Romero (he was a humongous gossip), Rod Taylor, Celeste Holm, Cliff Robertson and many more. Of course starring with David was Jane Wyman. We discuss was her hairdo a hair don't. We talk lots of Stuff. He Kindly agreed to talk to his number 1 fan Joan Prado. She was adorable as was David. This is a fast and fun show. Yes, He's so fine..

Part 2 of my interview with author John Dileo. 

I had so much fun talking to author John Dileo about his book Ten Movies At A Time: A 350-Film Journey Through Hollywood And America 1930-1970. We talked almost two hours about the movies and his book and we did not not get even get out of the forties. Thats a lot of movies. I cut into two parts for easier listening. John knows his movies, his reviews are very good. He does not mince words, if he loves you he loves you, if he does not like an actor or movie we know it. Adolphe Menjou and Barbara Stanwyck.?!? It's also a historical telling of the movies that were popular during certain periods of American History. It is a fun book. I loved it. John was a great guest and he will be back on to discuss other books he's written.

I speak to Author Stone Wallace about his great biography of George Raft- The Man That Would Be Bogart. I was not the biggest George Raft fan but I thought he was fascinating. After reading his bookI felt I knew George and liked him a lot. He was a complex man. He was sensitive, insecure and one hell of a dancer. We talk his hardscrabble upbringing in Hells Kitchen. How he got into dancing. When and how he got into movies. The broads and dames he loved and lost. I truly felt sad for George. His hanging with gangsters made his life harder then need be. My armchair shrink thinks he wanted away from these guys but was afraid of what they might do. We talk it all.

LEAH WILLIAMS JOINS ME AGAIN AND WE TALK WOMEN THAT LOVE TOO MUCH IN CLASSIC FILMS...

Leah Williams from the fabulous blog Cary Grant Won't eat you and facebook site of the same name joins me again to discuss women who love too much in Classic Movies. There are SOOOOOO many but we each got to choose three. We had to be sure the other had watched them. It was so hard to choose only three and which three but we did it. We talk roles by Gene Tierney, Joan Crawford, Bette Davis, Irene Dunne and Rita Hayworth. It was lots of fun. I want to do another women who love to much and a men who love too much in classic films. There are lots of guys that have been mezmerized by screen dames that are not exactly women you bring home to mother. See if you agree with our choices..

I TALKED TO STEVE, A HUGE CLASSIC MOVIE FAN ABOUT THE WAVISHING KAY FRANCIS< HIS TOP TEN PICKS FOR FAVE ACTRESSES, ONE I HAD NEVER HEARD OF...JUST GENERAL CLASSIC MOVIE FABULOUSNESS..

I talked to Steve, a true lover of Classic movies. It was just two huge classic movie buffs yakking away. I enjoyed myself thoroughly. Steve knows his Kay Francis, who I also really love and we talked her movies. Some obscure but always worth a watch to see what fabulous frock Kay would be in. WE chatted a bit about a four time co star of Kays, Ricardo Cortez. Ricardo, real name Jacob Krantz was born in NYC to Austrian immigrants. Ricardo is Steves fave creep of precodes. Mine is Warren William. We also talked Steves top ten of his favorite actresses and bet me mine would not be the same. He was right. We had a couple of the same faves, he had one actress I had never heard of. All in all it was a fun chat with a fellow fan.

I TALKED TO MY PAL ALEX HUNTER TO SEE WHATS UP SINCE OUR LAST VISIT. WE TALK COING OUT IN THE FIFTIES OR SIXTIES. CAREERS WOULD STILL BE RUINED, ALSO SOME JOAN COLLINS AND LONI ANDERSON SCOOP..

I was so happy to have my friend Alex Hunter on my show again to see whats been going on in her life. Alex wrote the incredible book..Joi Lansing; A Body To Die For.  A LOVE Story. if you have not read this book I highly recommend it. Alex has a way of making the reader feel like we are living this with her. Its great

We talked some exciting stuff. Alex was invited by a high school to give a lecture to senior students on her book. They loved her. The school is buying six hundred books to be on their curriculum. YAY ALEX! One school down, more to go. We talked her appearances on TV and radio and I pondered if she had gone show biz on me. We discussed the recent death of Tab Hunter and the movie being made about his affair with Anthony Perkins. They would pick up dates/beards and double date but at the end of the night Tab and Tony went off their own as did their dates. I'm really looking forward to seeing this movie. I thought that Joi and Alex story can come at it from two women in love and closeted in the age of flower children and free love. It was NOT THAT free.  you would still be ruined if they found out someone was gay.. I asked how Joy feltt about the big change in films and the 50's and sixty bombshells were not being cast. You had Faye Dunaway, Jane Fonda etc.. She noticed and was very distressed. I asked Alex if she thought it had changed much since classic Hollywood to the fifties to today. She thinks its better but no one should be forced out of closet. 

She told me her recent fan shows she's been too. One was in LA and she had a blast. The other one was as Jois partner to celebrate superman. Joi played the man of steels wife. WHO KNEW!! Alex had a great time. I asked her for some juice. She provided. All of a sudden Diva Joan Cllins comes into the room by her space, where she is not pleased to see Bombshell Loni Anderson was in the booth next to her. Queen Joan would have none of that and after some choice words they took Joan away from Lana and she was the entrance not closely to anyone. Once a diva, always a diva. 

I really loved having Alex on. She is always fun.Plus she's my pal. Lets get her movie made!!
